Why did I create Pop Scongs?
Hi, I’m Dene — the creator of Pop Scongs.
I’ve been around music my whole life: bands, vocal coaching, pop choirs, songwriting… even a #1 best-selling book. But here’s my secret:
I’m a lazy singer.
Not because I don’t love singing — but because traditional scales are boring. I could never stick to them.
Growing up in the 80s, I’d sneak pop songs into my warmups — Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bon Jovi — but they never really covered my whole range.
​As a teacher and choir director, I struggled to find warmups that kept singers awake and worked across different voice types. Honestly? They just didn’t exist.
So I made them.
